How I studied English in the Philippines

Study English in the Philippines

I want to share my experience as I learned English in the Philippines on Boracay Island.

Few will be surprised at the desire to learn (improve) English, but I think many will be surprised why in the Philippines.

The first and important question that needed to be resolved was the money one. How much money will be needed, what will I get for this money, where the result and quality / price will be optimal.

The first searches suggested studying a language in England

(no matter how English sounds in England the most logical), Malta is close, cheap, USA, Canada. And how, all the same, I went to learn English in the Philippines? After sorting through the options in England (oh, how long it took), communicating with a lot of agencies that drum your wishes for they themselves in 100 language schools get confused, the cost of courses, accommodation and passing costs significantly exceeded my budget for language courses. And so, England has disappeared.

The second option is Malta.

Cheaper, the weather is better, but … After reading the reviews, I realized that diving on Wednesday would not work. With groups, where if not the majority, then a lot of Russian-speaking communication will be in Russian. Tested by experience. Mine and many others.

Quite accidentally popped the third option – the Philippines.

I never thought about it, but pulling the thread, the tangle began to unravel and the puzzle began to take shape – the country is English-speaking, always warm (Malta did not stand here and there), a mixture of Asia and the West, the influence of Spain and the USA for the last hundred years, the history of English schools more than 20 years old, fantastic nature, popularity among English-speaking tourists, the cost of courses and passing costs, individual classes and small groups when learning a language. All this put language courses in the Philippines in the first place.

The disadvantage is a long and expensive flight. But even considering the cost of a flight, training for a month will be cheaper than in England or Malta, if you extend the studies and research of the Philippines for another month (as I did), then the total cost of courses, accommodation, flights and all associated entertainment becomes much lower than where -or more. How I chose the perfect course, ticket, and learning experience here.
